We are parents, too. We think traveling well and traveling with children shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. We have limited vacation time, and we’re not spending our few days of freedom in lousy hotels eating bad food. We know the world is full of wonderful resorts, cool urban escapes and far-flung lodges that can make our time with our kids count. We want it all, and we don’t think it should be so hard to find. So we’re going to share it with you.

Best Resorts for Carsick Kids

Henley Vazquez

If your kids suffer with car sickness, the ride to and from the airport may be the most stressful part of your vacation. I'm one of those. I pack extra clothes, plastic bags, Dramamine for the older kids and a strong prayer for the younger; and yet I can't count how many pukes I've cleaned, car seats I've scrubbed, apologies I've made to Uber drivers, and outfits I've thrown away in the trash. When it comes to travel with young children, sometimes it's the transfer on arrival that will break you. Here are a few resorts that might save your dry cleaning bill (and your sanity) by making the transition from airplane to beach lounger fast and simple. — Henley Vazquez

Fantastic kids' clubs, beautiful rooms, and even an adults-only beach and pool for when mom and dad want some alone time. Nizuc is one of the best deals out there, and we go back again and again. 15 minutes by car from Cancún airport.

Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic

Plan carefully, because the nonstop flights to La Romana only run on certain days, but if you can score the flight and a great staffed villa, you've got yourself a proper vacation. 10 minutes from La Romana airport.

Grace Bay Club, Turks & Caicos

Grace Bay Club tops the list for a lot of Passported families, but just about all the hotels along Grace Bay will be a quick drive from the Providenciales airport. One we're adding to our wishlist for the next trip: Beach Enclave, a new property that provides the amenities of a resort but all the accommodations are sprawling and gorgeous villas. And it's less than 10 minutes from the airport10 minutes from Providenciales airport.

Rosewood Baha Mar, Bahamas

The Bahamas is a favorite getaway for those who want a quick flight. And although we haven't checked out Rosewood's newest hotel, part of the much-anticipated Baha Mar development, it strikes the balance we need: maximum vacation for minimum travel hassle. You won't be near Atlantis (we like the Four Seasons for that), but for a weekend of sunshine, this could be your jam. 12 minutes from Nassau airport.

Eden Roc Cap Cana, Dominican Republic

Pretty new rooms directly on the beach, a kids' club that sits in the middle of a magical lagoon, and loads of excursions to keep an active family busy. And with a ton of flights to Punta Cana from multiple destinations, you're more likely to find a deal getting there. 15 minutes from Punta Cana airport.

Honorary Mention: The Boats and Tiny Planes Alternative

In some cases, nausea set off by windy car rides doesn't come into play for small planes or boats. If so, add all the St. Barth's hotels, Jumby Bay, and Four Seasons Nevis to your list, all of which require a short connecting flight or a small boat, but nothing with a long drive to face at arrival.
