We are parents, too. We think traveling well and traveling with children shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. We have limited vacation time, and we’re not spending our few days of freedom in lousy hotels eating bad food. We know the world is full of wonderful resorts, cool urban escapes and far-flung lodges that can make our time with our kids count. We want it all, and we don’t think it should be so hard to find. So we’re going to share it with you.

Beach Bag Survival Kit

Amber Hunter

While we are never opposed to a spontaneous trip to the beach, sometimes it's helpful to have a handy little checklist to ensure your day in the sun is flawless. We've come up with a list of essentials so the next time you tote along your cute beach bag, you won't have to worry that you've forgotten something important!

For a day at the beach, it's best to have a large bag. We recently rounded up some adorable new releases with everything from a sleek nylon pick to the classic straw bag. Now that you've got your bag picked out, onto the essentials!

Sunscreen

Lots and lots of sunscreen--you never want a sunburn to ruin a day at the beach and it's best to start healthy skincare practices early. Bring one designed for the face and another for the body (and don't forget to check for water resistance)! We love the Babyganics mineral based sunscreen for the littles and Supergoop with Vitamin C for a refreshing spritz.

Towels

If you're going sans-beach chairs, best to bring one towel to lie on and one towel to dry off from the sea. Check out these boho chic round towels from Vagabond perfect for lounging with the fam on the beach.

Diapers

An obvious item for the little ones but nevertheless, having a reminder is always good! Try Parasol diapers made with eco-concious materials in super cute patterns perfect for hot summer days.

Hat & Sunglasses

Double up the sun protection with a cute hat or visor as well as for the little ones. Babiators make adorable shades for kiddos.

Snacks

It's always good to prepare plenty of nibbles for a day in the sun! Trail mix, fruit, and good old PB&J sandwiches are fail-safe. You can also always order NatureBox to make sure your snacks are ready to be packed.

Good Book

We've got you covered with the best beach reads

Spare Clothes

If you're heading somewhere to eat straight afterwards and the little ones get cranky in wet suits, it's best to have something dry for them to change into. A simple way to avoid complaints! We love this Spare Pair set from the Gap that fits neatly into a matching zipper bag.
