We are parents, too. We think traveling well and traveling with children shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. We have limited vacation time, and we’re not spending our few days of freedom in lousy hotels eating bad food. We know the world is full of wonderful resorts, cool urban escapes and far-flung lodges that can make our time with our kids count. We want it all, and we don’t think it should be so hard to find. So we’re going to share it with you.

5 Favorite Island Getaways

Amber Hunter

Summer days and beach escapes go hand in hand, and at Passported we are partial to those getaways that involve being surrounded by blue water and white sand. Keep on reading to find out five of our favorite island getaways.

Anguilla

Anguilla's bragging rights include some of the Caribbean's best beaches, top hotels and a host of laid-back restaurants and cool reggae bars. Stay at the Viceroy Anguilla which has a range of rooms, all of which offer private terraces, three pools, and a kids club.

Grand Cayman

Whether you want to horseback ride, swim with stingrays, or simply take a nap on the beach, Grand Cayman has it all. This island blends a family-friendly beach scene with enough activities to keep the adventurous crowd happy. Stay at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman, located on the famous Seven Mile Beach, for an unbeatable family trip with restaurants, pools, and an educational kids' club, there's something for everyone.

Bermuda

Only a short hop from the East Coast sits the lovely island of Bermuda. With pink sand beaches, historic shipwrecks and blue lagoons, Bermuda is the definition of an island getaway. Stay at Rosewood Tucker's Point, a mere ten minutes away from the airport, and make use of the four pools, spa, gym, tennis courts, golf course, and kids' club.

Harbour Island

A true getaway, Harbour Island is the ultimate hideaway for families looking to relax and enjoy the beach in effortlessly chic style. Stay at Pink Sands, the Balinese inspired resort where every suite has a private patio.

St. Barth's

St. Barth's boasts a laid-back European attitude, bathtub-calm beaches and two cute towns for shopping, strolling and dining. What else could you need? Stay at Eden Rock, St. Barth's first hotel, that's within walking distance of town.

For a full low-down on each of these islands--and even more summer getaways-- head over to our city guides! But we can't promise you won't want to hop on the first plane to one of these paradise-like islands.
