We are parents, too. We think traveling well and traveling with children shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. We have limited vacation time, and we’re not spending our few days of freedom in lousy hotels eating bad food. We know the world is full of wonderful resorts, cool urban escapes and far-flung lodges that can make our time with our kids count. We want it all, and we don’t think it should be so hard to find. So we’re going to share it with you.

Crisp Fall Getaways

Nicole Rubin

Autumn is the season to visit destinations where can you warm up by the fire, watch the foliage change and take brisk walks in cozy sweaters. Below are our picks for the dreamiest places to go when there is a chill in the air and the leaves start to fall.

Blackberry Farm

Walland, TN

There is nothing more autumnal than spending time on a farm, especially when that farm has luxe accommodations, a restaurant with gourmet foothills cuisine, and a rejuvenating spa and wellness center. Ride horses, go fly fishing and visit their signature brewery to experience farm life with all the amenities.

Inn at Perry Cabin

St. Michael’s, MD

No, you probably haven’t been here before, but it may look familiar because it provided the backdrop to Wedding Crashers’ hijinx. This manor house has 78 rooms, so it’s a quiet place to reflect on the changing seasons while looking at the sailboats drifting by. Located an hour outside of DC, this is an ideal escape from the city for a weekend of country living.

Topping Rose House

Bridgehampton, NY

September to December is secretly the best time to go to the Hamptons, so avoid the crowds and head out east this Fall. Cozy up in one of the modern suites or cottages at Topping Rose, then indulge in a seasonal dinner at their Jean-George restaurant. The Hamptons aren’t all about pools and parties, you can taste local wines at nearby vineyards, go apple picking and bundle up for a crisp walk on the Atlantic ocean.
