We are parents, too. We think traveling well and traveling with children shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. We have limited vacation time, and we’re not spending our few days of freedom in lousy hotels eating bad food. We know the world is full of wonderful resorts, cool urban escapes and far-flung lodges that can make our time with our kids count. We want it all, and we don’t think it should be so hard to find. So we’re going to share it with you.

Coolest Ski Schools for the Kids

Nicole Rubin

Looking to hit the slopes this winter with the kiddos? We've rounded up our favorite cold weather destinations with the best ski schools so the little ones can learn and explore while you enjoy the mountain (or maybe just the spa).

Beaver Creek

The ski school at Beaver Creek is amazing. Very well run and organized. We’ve never had it fill up on us, but it might be worth registering online to avoid a wait. Take a free dial-a-ride to drop off, or have their ski nanny escort your kids from your condo to ski school. Kids love the afternoon cookies at the end of school.

Jackson Hole

If your kids are at least three years old and potty trained, Jackson's ski school is the place for them. Offering both ski and snowboard instruction, the school has a fun group of teachers and an organized system that will get even the most beginner of beginners comfortable on the slopes stat. For younger tots, daycare is offered, as are private lessons for all ages. (Adult instruction also available.)

Aspen

Aspen is divided into four mountains, with Snowmass and Buttermilk offering the programs for the youngest children and beginner skiers. Their daycare centers also accept babies. Each has half- and full-day programs, giving parents some grown-up time on the slopes while the kids have a combination of ski school and playtime. They make friends, they learn to ski from the kindest instructors, and they return happy and exhausted. Pre-register online to have some of the paperwork complete, but show up early the first day since there are extra details to handle on check-in.
