We are parents, too. We think traveling well and traveling with children shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. We have limited vacation time, and we’re not spending our few days of freedom in lousy hotels eating bad food. We know the world is full of wonderful resorts, cool urban escapes and far-flung lodges that can make our time with our kids count. We want it all, and we don’t think it should be so hard to find. So we’re going to share it with you.

14 Hours of Eating in Austin

Henley Vazquez

Austin is known for it's food scene. From breakfast tacos to late-night cocktails, Austin's eating (and drinking) has something for everyone. But with only a few days in town and so many places to try, how many eats can you pack in? Passported's Nicole shows us what twenty-four hours of dining can accomplish.

8 AM: Tacodeli

It doesn't matter if you're not exactly "hungry." It would be a crime to go to Austin and not a grab at least one breakfast taco, so head to this casual joint (with a very descriptive name) and create your own egg taco to go.

11 AM: La Condesa

This restaurant is as gorgeous as the crowd hanging out here. Bright tropical colors and cool modern furniture ooze cool, and I may have tried to steal one of the Heath Ceramics vases. This is a wonderful place for brunch with a Texas twist. The guacamole tasting is a must.

2 PM: Elizabeth Street Cafe

Be prepared to wait at this busting Vietnamese restaurant located in South Congress. Luckily, they've got a great front porch where you can kill time with a cocktail. Order the pho, steaming and delicious and a perfect pair with one of the specialty spring rolls.

5 PM: Geraldine's

Head to the new Van Zandt hotel and grab a drink at the poolside restaurant. They have great music, good people and snacks, if you have room.

8 PM: Arro

This place is special. It's an intimate bistro that brings a little bit of France to the Lone Star state. The menu includes decadent classics like croque monsieur and hometown favorites like the Arro burger. The extensive wine list and cocktails make it perfect for a date night out.

10 PM: Midnight Cowboy

If you haven't entered a food coma, make a res (required) at this speakeasy style lounge on 6th Street for a nightcap or two.

Repeat.
