New York, NY

We are parents, too. We think traveling well and traveling with children shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. We have limited vacation time, and we’re not spending our few days of freedom in lousy hotels eating bad food. We know the world is full of wonderful resorts, cool urban escapes and far-flung lodges that can make our time with our kids count. We want it all, and we don’t think it should be so hard to find. So we’re going to share it with you.

L.A. My Way

Henley Vazquez

Designer Jenna Jackson finds inspiration for her line of men's and women's accessories in destinations as far flung as Bhutan and South Africa. Back at home in LA, she has her regular hit list of family-friendly spots that are equally inspirational to those of us stuck in less sunnier climes. Follow her footsteps around the city for your next trip with the tots, and copy her cool-mama style with one of her gorgeous August bags. (PS Don't forget to enter our L.A. giveaway, which includes one of Jenna's totes. Ends soon!)

Brentwood Country Mart: Chicken baskets to split with my son, old-school rides outside of Poppy boutique, which is amazing for kids, grabbing a new book for bedtime, picking up groceries at Farm Shop plus a swing by Intermix, Jenni Kayne, Space NK and Modern English for shopping.  This is a one-stop-shop for the modern mommy.

Malibu Country Mart: A great, green outdoor playground, moments from the beach. You're surrounded by a few choices of coffee shop so the early morning on the playground is eased, and you're right next to a couple great spots to pick up lunch to eat with the kids outside on the picnic benches. There's amazing shopping here for all ages, guys and girls, and a Soul Cycle if you can get daddy to watch on the playground for an hour to sneak in a work out.  Jillian's class on Saturday mornings is the BEST!

Annernberg Community Beach House: You can't come to LA without hitting up the beach! This place has food, a pool and tons of fun.  It's great for kids and chic for mommy.

Gjusta: Sister restaurant to Gjelina on Abbott Kinney, this spot is more casual and just as delicious. You order at the counter and they have tons of great and healthy options and no indoor seating, so the fact that your 2 year old won't sit down is not judged! Outdoor seating is great, around some benches. Juices, coffees, quiches and tons of great take-away for later. I don't know how they make greens taste like this!

Montana Avenue: This street in Santa Monica has it all.  Stop by giggle and Splendid for shopping for the kids, grab coffee at Caffe Luxxe, lunch at Kreation and juice at one of the many healthy spots on this street.  There are great stores like Jill Roberts and Savannah, a place to get kid's haircuts, complete with airplane chair, at Panache and an incredible jewelry spot called Moondance.  This street has it all.  Again, if you can sneak in an hour away while dad takes the kids for a juice, check out YogaHop with Matt, you won't regret it!
