Mother's Day Getaways: Bring the Kids
Henley Vazquez
Treat mom to a weekend getaway. No flights, no fuss, just a quick drive to some of our favorite family escapes.
Trade the urban jungle for a weekend “out East” on Long Island’s beaches.
Splurge: c/o The Maidstone, a stylish boutique hotel and trendy eatery on East Hampton's Main Street.
Steal: The Greenporter, a hip 1950s motel revamp on the North Fork.

Palm trees and the Pacific, surfer breaks and stroller paths, everything about Santa Barbara is pitch perfect.
Splurge: Four Seasons Biltmore, the legendarily plush escape for exhausted Angelenos and their families.
Steal: El Capitan Canyon, for camping in safari tents, yurts or rustic cabins.

Wine country done family-style means good eating, gorgeous landscapes and great wine for mom.
Splurge: Solage Calistoga, a Napa Valley retreat with a Michelin-starred kids’ menu, huge rooms and a family pool.
Steal: Silverado Resort, a 1,200-acre resort with ten (!) swimming pools, tennis, golf and a Thomas Keller restaurant.

Check out Milwaukee, the other lakeside city, with brews and bratwurst for mom and dad plus amazing lakefront parks and starchitect-designed museums.
Splurge: The Iron Horse, with a hip restaurant and loft-styled rooms (but still a double queen option for families).
Steal: The Pfister, Milwaukee’s grand dame and a lot of luxury packed into a reasonable price.

Boating, crab cakes and lazy days on the dock make the Chesapeake Bay a favorite getaway for the DC crowd.
Splurge: Inn at Perry Cabin by Belmond, a classic Maryland retreat for preppy Beltway families and the picturesque backdrop for The Wedding Crashers.
Steal: Tides Inn, on the Virginian shore of the Chesapeake, with reasonably priced rooms and plenty of activities for kids.

Maine’s southern coast is a quick hop from Boston and has the open beaches, kid-friendly hikes and casual lobster shacks we’ve been missing all winter.
Splurge: Hidden Pond, a collection of individually designed cottages tucked into the woods near Kennebunkport, with a treehouse spa and date-night worthy restaurant.
Steal: Inn by the Sea, an oceanfront resort near Portland with open lawns for energetic kids, a huge beach and a chef focused on sustainable seafood.

Us? The F+F families are staying at home in Brooklyn and Connecticut, decamping to the Hamptons and flying away to a sunny weekend at the Miami Beach EDITION. Cheers to the weekend!
